Introducing new courses with business oriented and technology driven aspects

Main efforts of consortium members will be pointed towards the innovation of new courses with business oriented (business, economics, marketing, management and software engineering) and technology driven aspects (e-Commerce, e-Business, e-Learning, cryptography and security, mobile and ubiquitous computing). The methodology that addresses this outcome consists of:

ACTIVITY1.1

  Analysis of industry needs and requirements
  To realize this we plan workshops in all consortium members with discussions about latest research, analysis and discussion about business oriented needs and new technology trends and requirements.

ACTIVITY 1.2

  Analysis of EU CS studies and courses in PMSE, BEM, e-World, WCM fields
  Workshops at all consortia members will be organized to present syllabuses in project topics, followed by analysis and discussion about needs, requirements, prerequisites, possible effects and results, experience in education, compatibility to ECTS in both undergraduate and graduate courses.

ACTIVITY 1.3

  Definition and approval of new courses
  This activity is synthesis after realized analysis, finishing with definition of new syllabuses for mentioned courses. For this purpose we plan workshops to be organized in partner country and clarification meetings in EU partners. The proposal will consist of undergraduate and graduate courses in project topics according to the ECTS and the Bologna Declaration. Afterwards the approval procedure for accreditation will start and will finish with approval by the University Senate.

Introducing (IRS) Interactive Response System

ACTIVITY 2.1

  Review of new teaching methods
  Presentations in UOM and LSB will be organized to demonstrate new teaching methods. Afterwards, new teaching methods will be analyzed and discussed on workshops in beneficiary universities. We plan to purchase Personal Response Systems (EduCom) and LCD projectors for beneficiary institutions; and give practical demonstration of its use in education with IRS system.

  Building IRS prototype
  We plan several meetings and workshops to implement the information system for IRS. To realize this system we plan functional description, task description and requirements, detailed SW project activities, design of database, web and wireless interface and finally the IRS prototype.

New teaching environment - laboratory practicing

ACTIVITY 3.1

  Designing new teaching environment
  We plan presentations in UOM and LSB and workshops in beneficiary institutions to facilitate the development of new teaching environment and implement 4 contemporary CS educational laboratories with 72 PCs. Further more, in FNS we plan to design new lab for wireless and web e-Business application development with 2WLAN access points and 30 WLAN clients. This lab is a motivation to create Center for new technologies used for dissemination of outcomes.

  To realize equipment purchase, call for tenders will be realized at all beneficiary institutions and new laboratory will be established.

New teaching materials – textbooks and manuals

ACTIVITY 4.1

Development of new teaching material

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • The aim of this activity is to facilitate the development of new teaching material and its implementation. New teaching materials include 5 textbooks, public web site and multimedia CD.

ACTIVITY 4.2

New teaching environment manuals

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • The students and teachers will need manuals for lab exercises, new teaching environment and new teaching methods. 9 new manuals, lab exercises and public web site will achieve this outcome.

Teachers retraining

ACTIVITY 5.1

Retraining development

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • In order to achieve project objectives for new courses, new contemporary laboratories, teaching environment and new teaching methods, we plan to retrain the teaching staff with 20 flows. Student mobility is also included, especially for lab exercises and lab practising.

ACTIVITY 5.2

Knowledge implementation

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • Workshops and presentations will be the form to disseminate the knowledge obtained on re-training. Further seminars and presentations will be organized for other students and teachers.

Dissemination and sustainability

ACTIVITY 6.1

Printing, publishing and presentations

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • We plan several workshops and presentations in partners' institutions towards better dissemination. Three presentations will cover new curricula, new teaching environment and new teaching methods. 4 information brochures; flyers and posters about the project activities will be printed. Web publishing is important to cover project objectives, lecture slides and presentation materials, contents and teaching material, new teaching method and environment manuals, IRS system overview and usage. Multimedia CD will also cover these materials.

ACTIVITY 6.2

Center for new technologies and networking

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • There are several reasons for good sustainability of the project and why they will last after the end of Tempus financing: University will continue to implement the proposed curricula; both the students and teachers will like to use new teaching environment; SMEs will appreciate graduated students with quality knowledge and skills; the students will implement the gained knowledge in management and business to produce quality products; university will continue to maintain the labs and new teaching environment; teachers will be delighted to implement new teaching environment with Interactive Response System. We plan to establish Center for new technologies as an upgrade of the Wireless Application Development Lab to continue activities offering courses from project objectives and IT management consultancy. It will allow possibility of networking with Socrates and Erasmus programmes.

Quality control and monitoring

ACTIVITY 7.1

Accreditation of new computer study programmes, teaching materials

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • New CS curricula and teaching material will be evaluated by accreditation bodies and reviewed at five levels: by professors and experts from UOM and LSB, by teaching staff from partner country, by the corresponding working group, and by students. Such procedure will guaranty high quality level of both courses and teaching materials.

ACTIVITY 7.2

New teaching method and environment implemented

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • The Central Management Team will be the responsible to monitor and evaluate the project. The quality of the previous work and progress indicators can be viewed through published textbooks, manuals, multimedia CD and Web sites. We also plan to distribute questionnaires filled up by target groups on dissemination presentations and in study process.

ACTIVITY 8.1

Coordination meetings

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • Annual coordination meetings will be organized for discussion about activities schedule, analysis of problems and detailed plan. All further activities will be realized by working groups for each speciality: (PMSE) Project Management and Software Engineering; (BEM) Business, Economics and Marketing; (e-World) e-Business, e-Commerce, e-Govern­ment, e-Learning; (WCM) Web technology, Cryptography and security, Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing.

ACTIVITY 8.2

Progress reviewed and future activities

DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:

  • At the end of each annual year coordination meetings are planned for discussion about realized activities and eventual reschedule; analysis of results and outcomes. The Central management team will coordinate these activities.
